I have always enjoyed art as an observer in museums, galleries and shows. However, it wasn’t until a little over ten years ago that I discovered my passion for making art through exploration with clay. I use the potter’s wheel to make cups, mugs and small bowls, but my preference is to hand build using slabs of clay. Color is very important to me, so I am often experimenting with ways to combine or layer it. I also enjoy adding texture to many of my pieces, sometimes using plant material, fabric or found and re-purposed objects to impress in the clay. As a lover of the outdoors, you will often find floral and plant patterns on my pieces.
My work is informed in part by my time spent in both the Midwest and the Southwest, and the varied colors of the landscapes and plant life in both areas.
